Personal empowerment means you're able to take charge of your life and live your life in a way that is meaningful and purposeful to you.
Personal empowerment is about knowing your self-worth, loving yourself, and making your own choices. An empowered person does not let others determine how they should live.
Empowered people feel equipped and capable of making sound decisions based on their core values. They're motivated to work towards their life goals, and when they face challenges, they focus on their strengths and use healthy coping skills.
An empowered person is also self-aware. Personal empowerment is linked to self-esteem and being secure within yourself.
Personal empowerment is not about having power or control over others.
The need to have power and control over others stems from insecurity. It is uncommon for a genuinely empowered person to have any desire to gain power or control over others. Instead, empowered people seek to uplift and encourage others to live the best versions of themselves.
Empowerment therapy focuses on strengthening self-esteem and confidence building.
Other forms of therapy typically focus on treatment to reduce symptoms associated with a mental health disorder or getting support to recover from a challenging life event.

Most clients starting empowerment therapy will meet with Malissa weekly or every other week.
Frequent sessions are helpful when clients are initially identifying and working through negative self-talk and learning how to use the skills that are introduced in therapy sessions.

Some clients prefer to meet less frequently starting, and that's okay.
Malissa will work closely with you at the start of your therapy to help you determine how often your therapy sessions will be based on your needs and consider your budget.
