Research shows that therapy is an effective way to treat and manage anxiety long-term.
Research shows that evidenced-based therapies that aim to treat anxiety are effective! Malissa is Certified as a Clinical Anxiety Treatment Provider. This means she has expertise in anxiety disorders and clinical training using evidenced-based therapies designed to help clients decrease anxiety; and teaches strategies to manage anxiety long after therapy ends effectively.
Anxiety is part of our human experience, so nobody can "get rid" of anxiety permanently. However, that does not mean that anxiety needs to continue to take over your life and cause you severe distress. In therapy with Malissa, you'll gain insight into how anxiety develops, and you'll be taught effective strategies to manage anxiety at the moment. The coping skills you'll gain will be empowering tools that you'll use to decrease anxiousness and be able to manage anxiety long after therapy ends.
Malissa uses a neurologically informed therapy approach. In neurologically informed therapy, the goal is to teach clients strategies to make the brain more resistant to anxiety deliberately. Clients learn how anxiety works in the brain and how to create new, improved connections that lead to new responses. When clients have a basic understanding of how anxiety works in the brain and are equipped with effective coping strategies, they report decreased anxiety and are prepared to manage it in the long term.
